Queensland Mines and Energy- Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation are planning to hold 4 x 2 day Hands-on Proximity Detection and Collision Avoidance System Workshops at various locations around Queensland.

The Workshops are a result of several High Potential Incidents, Lost Time / Serious Injuries and Fatalities that have occurred within the mining industry, both at underground and surface operations over the past few years.

To maximise awareness of the systems (and their capabilities) that are presently available within the industry, Queensland Mines and Energy (QME) is inviting practitioners from both coal and metalliferous mines to participate and share their experiences with and without this type of technology.

The workshops will consist of a key note address from Safety and Health Division, interactive brainstorming, several presentations from both system manufacturers and industry representatives and facilitated workshop sessions with the aim to establish how incidents can be avoided using the technology available.

Who should attend? A key aim of the workshop is to reach people in line management, supervisory and operational roles typically engaged in day-to-day safety management of the operation along with senior executives.
